A huge thank you!
Hi everyone!
Thank you all so much for the overwhelmingly positive reception to Project Shoreline, it's been heartwarming to see the amount of people who have taken an interest in our humble little mini-adventure. This is a small post to commemorate the release of our game and extend our gratitude to everyone who has played, shared, or even just looked at Project Shoreline.
One thing we're particularly excited about is that Project Shoreline received its first-ever Let's Play! It feels equally rewarding and surreal to see a person out in the wild make a video about our own game. Thank you so much Archer for the incredibly generous words, it was a treat to watch!
Be sure to check 'em out, they tend to show off a lot of indie games with a fun tone and high-quality commentary!
A bit about us - Speldosa
We started out last year as a group of 10 people working together in the mobile games industry. We all wanted to branch out into making PC or console games, one thing led to another and we ended up on the road starting our own company called Speldosa Interactive (the name is a sort of double entendre, meaning both music box and gamepad in Swedish, in case anyone was curious).
Project Shoreline is an offshoot of another game we're working on called MonsterWash, which has similar gameplay as Project Shoreline but with the added twist of climbing gigantic monsters Shadow-Of-The-Colossus-style and cleaning them to restore the environment.
This is an old screenshot from the technical prototype we made this past fall.
With Project Shoreline, we wanted to prove to ourselves that our core gameplay mechanics (namely exploring, cleaning, and restoring) could be engaging and satisfying on their own. We set out to do this within 4 weeks wherein we decided to exclude everything that wasn't strictly necessary and got to work creating a new version of our game. 6 weeks later (as it turns out, 4 weeks was a bit too ambitious), we managed to put together Project Shoreline! To give ourselves a little pat on the back, we're very proud of the fact that we managed to cram in a whole new game world, populated with almost entirely new 3D assets (sans the main character), overhauled cleaning system and a made-from-scratch world restoration mechanic.
So, what's happening next?
As for the next steps, this is where we hope things get interesting! We've gotten a bunch of really solid feedback about how we can improve Project Shoreline, after we've taken a much-needed Easter break, we want to get working on improving the game based on your feedback. Our aim is to not just bug fix but also try to put in some quality-of-life updates and potentially new features depending on what the future holds. We hope you stay with us and try our future updates. See you on the beach!
We wish you a wonderful weekend and a happy Easter!
